Official complete name: Caterina Masana Bofarull Bibliographic name: Lina Masana E-Mail: lina.masana@gmail.com Lina Masana, BA, MSc, PhD PhD in Anthropology (2013, URV), master's degree in Medical Anthropology and International Health (MSc 2008, URV) and graduated in Social and Cultural Anthropology (BA 2002, UB) I am a graduate in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Barcelona (2002). I received my master's degree in Medical Anthropology and International Health (2008, MSc with Hons) at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona - Spain), and I have just completed my PhD in Medical Anthropology (18th June 2013) at the same university (URV) which obtained the European Doctorate Mention and was awarded a unanimous cum laude. My main fields of expertise are ethnography, qualitative research and narrative analysis, and I have widely explored the topic of chronicity. My dissertation research, which focuses on the experience and management of adults with chronic illnesses, was awarded a four years pre-doctoral fellowship from the Catalan Government (AGAUR - Agency for Administration of University and Research Grants) supported by the Commission for Universities and Research of the Department of Innovation, Universities and Enterprise of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and by the European Social Fund. I have participated in several medical anthropology conferences presenting papers related to my research work, some of this work has been published (some of them in English), and other pieces are scheduled for publication in the coming year. I have done book reviewing and paper refereeing, postgraduate counseling, and scientific seminars in universities and research centers at Spain, The Netherlands and the UK. I have worked as doctoral research fellow in the Department of Anthropology, Philosophy and Social Work of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV, 2008-2011), and also taught in anthropology subjects for undergraduates and several seminars for graduates at the Master of Medical Anthropology an International Health at the same university (2008-2013). I have done research stays at the Amsterdam Institute of Social Science Research (AISSR) - University of Amsterdam (NL) and at the Centre for International Research on Care, Labour and Equalities (CIRCLE) - University of Leeds (UK). Currently I am working with severeal research projects, some on my own, and some contributing with other research groups and institutions in Spain such as Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), Universitat de Barcelona (UB), and the Health Evaluation Unit of the Canary Islands Heath Services (SECS).
