Breu Presentació

Dr. Diana Cristina Dubert finished the Biochemical Engineering Degree in 2005, Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj, Romania. She obtained her 1st Master Degree in Industrial Environmental Hygiene from Babes-Bolyai University, Romania in 2006 and her 2nd M.Sc. degree in Official Postgraduate Program in Chemical, Environmental and Process Engineering in 2008, from Rovira i Virgili University, Spain. She continued her academic career by following the three-year doctoral program of the Official Postgraduate Program in Chemical, Environmental and Process Engineering at Rovira i Virgili University, Spain.  In 2012, she obtained the title of Doctor "Cum Laude" in Chemical, Environmental and Process Engineering.

From 2005 till 2007, Dr. Dubert joined the research group lead by Prof. Dr. Maria Tomoaia Cotisel for an R+D collaboration in the Chemical-Physics field. During this period, she was involved in various projects in the field of Biophysics and Surface Chemistry: CEEX 5/2005 (objective: Interfacial NanofabricationStrategies in Research and Development of Some New Functional Nanomaterials and PlateSupramolecular Nanostructures for Medicine and Nanotechnology applications), AcademyGrant 95/2005 (objective: Thermodynamic and Kinetic Study of Nanostructured Biosystems atFluid Interfaces. Modeling and Experiment) and CNCSIS 2006 (objective: The Research and Development of Some Biological Nanostructures. The Orientation of Nanoparticles in ComplexSuperstructures with Applicability in Medicine and Nanoscience). During the Ph.D. she worked in a consortia URV (Universitat Rovira i Virgili)-ICIQ (Institut Català d'Investigació Química), financed by a European project IMPULSE (Integrated Multiscale Process Units with Locally Structured Elements) and having the main objective the heterogeneous catalyzes synthesis by microreactors with applications both in health and industry. The research field extended by adding product crystallization investigation, during a research stage at Duisburg-Essen University, Germany, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mathias Epple.

Between 2012-2015, joined Dow Chemical Company, Dow Water and Process Solutions Research Center, where she worked as chemical engineer in the development of novel techniques for municipal and river water treatments, focusing on ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis technologies, with the final aim of rising the water quality not only for industry but as well for human consumption. During this time, she was a member of two international groups: AF platform (anti-fouling group) and IW platform (industrial water). Was leading 3 operators and had a close collaboration with the laboratory. Had an important contribution in 2012, in the market launch of a new low energy reverse osmosis membrane, both for river and municipal water treatment processes.

In 2015 joins SPABE group (Digital Signal Processing in Aerospace and Biomedical Environments) from Rovira i Virgili University as a post-doctoral researcher, working part-time within the research line: Digital signal processing having two main approaches: 1st one relates to characterization of the accelerometric environment of different (ESA ? European Space Station) experiments and 2nd focuses on the biological signals investigation under reduced gravity conditions. In 2017 joined the research lines: Physical behavior of complex liquid systems under reduced gravity conditions, as a group member and researcher. The above line of research aims to study the impact of the ISS (International Space Station) microgravity levels and controlled vibration on the complex liquid systems and give a detailed numerical approach of it. In 2020 the line was extended for the phase change materials (PCM) characterization, as well. In 2021 started the 3rd line of research, Heat Transfer using Phase Change Materials where the main focus is analyzing the heat extraction during melting process or complete cycle melting/solidification of different PCM under terrestrial and reduced gravity conditions. This line is associated to the European project SCI-ESR-Marangoni Phase Change Materials (MarPCM).

On September 1st,2017 started as associate professor focusing on laboratories of Physics 1st university year given in English. She expanded her teaching duties by 24h of physics exercise class for 1st-year university students given in Spanish/Catalan. Her teaching career continued until present day involving exercise and laboratories classes in both Spanish/Catalan and English.

In 2023 she was the lead organizer of the 15th International Meeting on Thermodynamics (IMT15) Congress that took place in Tarragona, Spain. As well, accepted the role of Co-Guest Editor for the special issue (Transport Phenomena in Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics) opened within the International Journal oh Heat and Mass Transfer.

Her research experience includes Langmuir-Blodgette technique - surface functionalization, proteins and lipids thin film deposition on a solid support (mica or glass), analytical techniques for solids characterization - AFM, STM, SEM, ESEM, TGA, optical microscopy, computational software: statistics and simulation (Anova, Matlab, TsTools and open access OpenFoam), synthesis within microreactors, water treatment: filtration and cleaning processes for increasing the quality both for drinking and industrial water, signal digital processing within Matlab in neuroscience and vibrational field and modeling in Brainstorm and s/eLoreta applied for EEG data, OpenFoam simulation of the thermodiffusion processes and most recently OpenFoam simulations of PCM melting-solidification cycle with applications in heat management. The European project under the latter research was linked is MarPCM.
