Graduate in Philosophy and Educational Sciences. Graduate in Teaching (specialising in science) from the University of Barcelona (UB). PhD in Pedagogy from the Rovira i Virgili University (URV). Postgraduate degree in New Information and Communication Technologies, Design and Development of Training Environments and Strategies. Interuniversity master's degree in educational technology: design of training materials and environments, from the URV.

From 2008 to 2016, Dr Tierno-García was part of the deans team at the Faculty of Education and Psychology (FCEP-URV) and head of the URVs bachelor's degree in social education. From 2016 to 2024, she has been Head of the Department of Pedagogy at the URV.

Dr Tierno-García has been a lecturer for over 25 academic years in 1st and 2nd cycle, masters degrees and doctoral programmes. Currently, she teaches on subjects related to research and evaluation in education and educational leadership-

Dr Tierno-García currently leads the recognised research group Educational Transformation, Leadership & Sustainability (EDIT ? 2021 SGR 00812), and is member of the recognised research group Learning, Media & Social Interaction (LMI ? 2017 SGR 379) and the inter-university Red de Investigación sobre Liderazgo y Mejora de la Educación (RILME - Research Network on Leadership and Improvement in Education).
